Item# BD020
Disposable plastic Blood Bag mainly compose collection bag, sterile bags and relevant anticoagulant. Single blood bag is used for collection, preservation and transfusion of whole blood, Multi-blood bag is mainly used for collecting whole blood land for separation, preservation and transfusion of red blood cell, plasma and platelet etc.
Blood Bag Features
*Siliconized with ultra-thin walled 16G sharp pointed needle for smooth and comfortable venipuncture
*Rounded Shape of the bag minimizes loss of blood components during Transfer and Transfusion
*If Red cells are preserved in SAGM solution then the life of Red cells goes upto 42 days. The CPD Solution preserves whole blood for 21 days whereas CPDA solution preserves blood for 35 days
*Special break-off needle cover prevents re-use of bag
*Provided with standard donor tubing to collect blood
*Convenient hanger slits and holes are provided for use during Blood Collection and Blood Transfusion, it also allows easy suspension of bag in vertical position
*Inner surface is treated so carefully so as to significantly reduce platelet destruction and to prevent blood from clotting
*Particle-free and high quality transparent Medical grade PVC sheet is provided for accurate and easy blood monitoring during Collection, Transfer and Transfusion
*Tamper proof, safe and easy-to-open Port covers are provided to avoid contamination
*Provided with soft frosted and flexible kink resistant tubing with same numbers at intervals of 100 mm to prevent any confusion to the user
*As the anticoagulant maintains a reasonable amount of pH, it provides a high degree of red cell survival rate and oxygen delivery rate
*Snap-Tip and connector tube allows transfer of Blood Components and addictive solution smoother and faster
*With or without bacterial retentive air inlet with snap on cap
*Special label is strongly struck on the bag so that it is difficult to peel – open and at the same time it is convenient to write on
Packed individually in plastic film and in multiples in special aluminum foil (pouches)

Types of Blood Bag
1. Single Blood Bag
A single blood bag, also known as a single Donation blood bag, is a medical device used for the collection, storage, and transfusion of blood and blood components.
2. Double Blood Bag
Double blood bag is a specialized medical container used for the collection and storage of blood and blood components. It consists of two bags that are connected by tubing and designed to be used together as a unit.
The primary purpose of a double blood bag is to facilitate the separation of whole blood into its various components, such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma. The two bags allow for the efficient processing of blood during procedures like component preparation or blood transfusions.
3. Triple Blood Bag
Triple blood bag is a medical device used for whole blood collection and separation of 3 different blood components – red blood cells, plasma and platelet concentrate or cryoprecipitate, obtained through the process of centrifugation and separation. Triple Blood Bag system is available with CPDA-1 or CPD/SAG-M anticoagulant solution. The 5 days platelet storage bag is optional.
4. Quadruple Blood Bag
- Primary bag: The main bag that holds the blood, usually has a capacity of approximately 450-500 milliliters, contains an anticoagulant-preservative solution, such as CPDA-1 or CPD. This solution prevents blood clotting and preserves the viability of red blood cells during storage.
- Three Satellite bags: These satellite bags are typically used to store specific blood components separated from the whole blood, such as Red blood cells, Plasma, Platelets.
- Tubing and Connectors: They are used to connect the primary bag with the satellite bags and other necessary components, ensure the proper flow of blood / blood components.
- Identification labels: Each blood bag is labeled with important information, including the blood type, donor identification, collection date, and any specific instructions or warnings.
Direction of Usage for the Blood Bag
1. Instructions for Blood Collection (with Gravity Method)
1.Put bag on scale and adjust graduation to zero.
2.Suspend bag below donors arm a minimum of 60 cm between bag and donors arm.
3.Apply blood pressure cuff and disinfect puncture site.
4.Make a loose knot in donor tube approx.10 cm from needle.
5.Grasp needle hub firmly, twist needle protector to remove it. Perform venipuncture.
6.Release pressure cuff (and start to collect blood.
7.As soon as blood flow starts, repeatedly mix blood anticoagulant by gently shaking the bag.
8.Collect up to 50o mL blood.
9.Knot firmly after collection and withdraw donor needle. Sever donor tube above knot and collect pilot samples.
10.Immediately after collection gently invert bag up and down at least 10 times to thoroughly mix blood and anticoagulant.
11.Squeeze blood from donor tubing into the bag, mix and allow citrated blood to flow back into tubing.
12.Seal donor tubing between numbers with aluminium rings or heat sealer.
2. Instructions for Transfusion
1.Crossmatch before use.
2.Do not add medication to this blood.
3.Mix blood thoroughly immediately before use.
4.Remove outlet protection and insert Blood transfusion set.
5.Blood transfusion set must have a filter.
3. Caution
1.Use the Blood Bag in 10 days from opened Aluminium foil pack.
2.Do not use bag if damaged or contained solutions found to be turbid.
4. Storage:
Unused pack may be kept at room temperature and pack with blood in should be kept between+2C and +6c.
